Dragondreams :: July 2010

Postby Dragondreams » Sun Jul 18, 2010 12:03 pm

There's a few hidden meanings in this one...

It's a complete re-work, re-performance and new recording of an old idea.

The synth parts are all soundfonts in Cakewalk, controlled by the Schecter Omen Extreme with a GK3 pup running into a GR20 controller, connected to the MIDI port on the Soundblaster LiveDrive.

Guitar part is the Ibanez SAS32FM into Yamaha MagicStomp running my "signature" hi-gain patch.

Bass is the usual Westone headless.

Some of the elements of this track are probably familiar, and there's a reason for it... :wink:

GR20 sounding good!
Loved it when the guitar comes in.

With my "spiritual attenna" raised as high as it could go, the hidden meaning is "Positive Encouragement". :shock:

Thank you, Gray. :)

The GR20 wasn't making any sounds. I was only using its MIDI output to trigger the soundfonts in my PC. ;)

The hidden meaning? Good try, but not really close. ;)

Love it when the guitar comes in - that's a great hairs-on-the-back-of-the-neck moment. Great lead playing, really creates a nice mood.

The drums sound a bit dry compared to the reverb-drenched rest of the track. It allows them to cut through nicely, but they kind of feel like they're not part of it, if you know what I mean? Nothing wrong with the parts themselves at all though.

Have no idea what the hidden meaning is.

The other guys have already covered the comments I would have made. I did enjoy the mix of synth and guitar sounds, which worked really well.

I've no idea what the meaning is though, sorry.
